Beauty As A Communal Act
Work in Development
Beauty As A Communal Act is part live art, part performance, part fashion show, part activism. It is an exploration into accessible fashion through the lens of performance artists who identify with disability. It is a provocation made to those observing “What can be beautiful?” “What do we consider to be beautiful?” “How can one be well dressed?”
It is an active investigation into the act and art of dressing a body, body politics, fashion and the dis-abled body; and the body as a platform for judgement, acceptance and social change. The next creative development process is to test these concepts in a live performance format, led by a team of artists who identify with and have lived experience of disability; and seeks to invite audiences to become active participants as models, designers and witnesses.
